Ingredients
  

Scone Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Gruyère
  • 0.75 cup diced ham cooked
  • 0.66 cup milk
  • 1 egg large

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  • Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in cheese and diced ham.
  • Whisk milk and egg together and gently mix into dry ingredients.
  • Form dough, shape into a circle, and cut into wedges.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm for best flavor. Freeze baked scones for longer storage.
