Ingredients
  

Sauce Base

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 12 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 1 shallot finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.75 cup dry red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add mushrooms and cook until browned and tender.
  • Stir in shallot and garlic and cook until fragrant.
  • Pour in red wine and simmer until reduced by half.
  • Add broth and thyme and simmer until slightly thickened.
  • Season with salt and pepper and serve warm.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, add a cornstarch slurry during the final simmer.
