Ingredients
  

Custard Base

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 egg yolks large
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Cranberry Layer

  • 1 cup cranberries fresh or frozen
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.125 tsp cloves

Instructions
 

  • Simmer cranberries, brown sugar, and spices until thickened.
  • Whisk yolks, cornstarch, and sugar in bowl.
  • Heat milk and cream until steaming.
  • Temper eggs with hot milk.
  • Cook custard until thick and silky.
  • Stir in vanilla and salt.
  • Layer cranberry and custard in cups.
  • Chill 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Do not boil custard or it may curdle.
