Ingredients
  

Orzo Base

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion large, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta uncooked
  • 2.5 cups vegetable broth warm
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.5 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.25 tsp dried thyme

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook onions until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  • Add garlic to the same pan and sauté for 30 seconds.
  • Stir in orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes.
  • Pour in warm vegetable broth and simmer until orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Lower heat and stir in cream, Parmesan, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  • Simmer 2–3 minutes until thick and creamy.
  • Serve topped with crispy onions and fresh herbs.

Notes

Add a splash of broth when reheating to loosen the sauce.
